In recent casting news:
Adrienne Warren will make her West End debut in Tina, a new musical about the life and music of Tina Turner. Directed by Phyllida Lloyd, the show will begin performances at the Aldwych Theatre on 21 March 2018, with press night on 17 April 2018. Warren, who was introduced by Turner at yesterday's launch event (pictured), said she "elated, honoured and humbled" to play the role.
Three actresses have been announced to replace Amber Riley as Effie in Dreamgirls when she steps down next month. From 20 November Marisha Wallace, Moya Angela, and Karen Mav will rotate in the role. Dreamgirls has extended booking at the Savoy Theatre to 2 June 2018.
Adult casting has been announced for the first five venues of next year's UK and Ireland tour of Matilda. Craige Els will reprise the role of Miss Trunchbull, having played her in the West End. He will be joined by Carly Thoms as Miss Honey and Sebastien Torkia as Mr Wormwood as well as former West End cast-mate Rebecca Thornhill as Mrs Wormwood.
The cast also includes Joe Atkinson, Peter Bindloss, Oliver Bingham, Emily Bull, Matthew Caputo, Samara Casteallo, Matt Gillett, Michelle Chantelle Hopewell, Sam Lathwood, Steffan Lloyd-Evans, Charlie Martin, Anu Ogunmefun, Taylor Walker, Adam Vaughan and Dawn Williams.
Casting has been announced for Anne Washburn's adaptation of TV series The Twilight Zone, which opens at the Almeida Theatre in December. The production will feature Lizzy Connolly, Amy Griffiths, Matthew Needham, Oliver Alvin-Wilson, Franc Ashman, Adrianna Bertola, Neil Haigh, Cosmo Jarvis, John Marquez and Sam Swainsbury.
Sheila Hancock will star in a stage adaptation of the film comedy Harold and Maude at the Charing Cross Theatre next year. The production, which opens in February, will be directed by Thom Southerland who said he was "delighted" to be teaming up again with Hancock, who he previously directed in Grey Gardens.Back to news
