Started in 2014, #LoveTheatre day is an initiative that presents an opportunity for theatres and professionals to shout about the work that they do. In fact, it was on the very first #LoveTheatre day that John and Matt got together to discuss what has now become Curtain Call. Being a relative newcomer to this thriving community, we decided to get stuck in and share some of the fantastic content that we had been fortunate to gather throughout the year.
So it was with great aplomb that we approached The Guardian (founding partner of #LoveTheatre day) with some of our top unreleased #backstage photos of the year so far, to see if they would feature them for the day. We were nervous about showing these as it was the first time we had really put any content our there. Guardian Stage Editor Chris Wiegand was happy to oblige, and put together a great spread on their website, which quickly rose to number 1 in their most read articles, and racked up over 600 shares!
More than anything it was an excellent opportunity to connect with theatres, productions, cast and crew to celebrate the work that they all do. After all, that is exactly why we started Curtain Call - to afford everyone involved in a production a virtual bow.
