Helena graduated as a musical theatre student from Performance Preparation Academy (Guildford) in 2016. Since graduating she has been lucky enough to originate the role of 'Aoife' in 'When Strawberries Are Not Enough' at The Hampton Hill Theatre, and got the opportunity to multi role in a new physical theatre comedic project in Bournemouth in May. During this production Helena had to change characters and accents 11 times in 30 mins, so is very competent with multi rolling, comedy, improvisation and creating characters. Helena loves fringe theatre and last June portrayed the 'Caterpillar' in a new adult adaption of 'Alice in Wonderland' at the Bread and Roses Theatre, where on the Friday night Helena managed to learn the part of the White Rabbit in 4 hours and do both her original Caterpillar/Ensemble role and the White Rabbit role in front of the reviewer. This is what they had to say: "The actress playing the White Rabbit was hospitalised so Helena Mitchell (who also plays the Caterpillar) has taken on the role at a day’s notice and she gives possibly the strongest and most believable performance." (Remote Goat David Phipps-Davis) She also co - wrote a children's live interactive show at G Live in Guildford as part of the Guildford Fringe last July. Helena loves all aspects of the industry and made her debut choreographing in 'Seussical the Musical Jr' in August 2017 at 'The Barn Theatre' in Cirencester. She has just finished portraying the role of 'Snow White' in 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' at 'The Elgiva Theatre' in Chesham.
Helena is a very hard working, bubbly, energetic, dedicated and passionate person. She is a fantastic self motivator and is also great at working with others to achieve what is best for the production as a whole. Previous employers have said she "is a fantastic member of the team and a joy to have in the rehearsal room".
Helena is trained in acting, singing and dancing. She also plays the flute and piano and is currently learning guitar. She has always been a very creative and musical person, learning her first instrument at the age of 5. She is fascinated in observing people, their different characteristics and lifestyles and using this skill and knowledge within her acting and character choices, to make each character more truthful and realistic, whist also pushing and challenging herself and the boundaries.
Helena is a highly organised person. She not only loves musical theatre, but straight acting, voice overs, commercials and even behind the scenes, organising events, concerts and fundraisers. This is why she is particularly interested and open to all aspects of the industry and has a great deal of respect for all members of the theatrical industry. I would love the opportunity to direct or produce a show of my own one day.
