Sunny, a young talented dancer from Jamaica, moves to the UK at a certain moment. From that moment on his whole life changes. He starts up a dancing group called the Sunshine Crew. Their goal is to win the prestigious London Dance Contest which is held in nightclub Rasputin. Sunny and Rose, one of the members of the Sunshine Crew’s biggest opponent the Thunder Crew, find out they know each other from their childhood in Jamaica. Benny, Rose’s jealous boyfriend doesn’t like the contact between the two. When Rose wants to sing professionally and Benny forbids this, Sunny suggests that Rose sings with the Sunshine Crew.
Benny informs Eveline, Rose’s mother also known as Ma Baker and owner of the Rasputin club, about Sunny and Rose’s plans. Clearly Ma Baker is not happy about this and rather sees Rose take over the Rasputin Club instead of wasting her time singing.
On Sunny’s birthday, his mother Pearl finally confesses Sunny was born in the UK and why they moved to Jamaica. In London, she got pregnant from Eddy Baker, who was a famous dancer in those days. She kept it a secret from Eddy, because she was afraid it affected his dancing career in a negative way..
Eveline and Pearl eventually met and argue about the past because they both fell in love with Eddy. Both mothers forbid their children to see each other again, but in the meanwhile they already fell in love. Eveline convinces her daughter, that if she doesn’t see Sunny again, she will let the Sunshine Crew win the contest.
Then Rose finds out that her mother has ignored the will of Eddy and that Sunny actually is the heir of the Rasputin Club. At the London Dance Contest Rose confronts her mother and she decides to sing with the Sunshine Crew. The Sunshine Crew wins the contest and Rose tells Sunny everything. Sunny forgives his mother, knew that his father must have known him and becomes the owner of the Rasputin and changes the name of the club into: DADDY COOL!
