Much Ado About Nothing
Set amongst the roses of The Majlis Art Garden’s beautiful covered outdoor theatre, this production welcomes you to come and experience the story of people falling in love despite the pressures and prescribed ideals that society places upon men and women. While a comedy by nature, director James Graham aims to look beyond the surface of Shakespeare’s words by diving in to question the roles that are given to the sexes and what may come when those charges are challenged.
Spearheaded by producers Anne van Leeuwen of Leroy Street Theatre and Scott Walker of Unit 102 Actors Co, this is a Fresh Mint project. Fresh Mint is an aesthetic of theatre that takes its cue from legendary Shakespeare director John Barton and seeks to marry the demands of classical text with a modern, clear approach that relates Shakespeare’s stories
to today’s contemporary audiences. Much Ado About Nothing is the third instalment of the Fresh Mint project and follows the project’s successful runs of Hamlet and Julius Caesar.
Rain or shine, this thought provoking production is guaranteed to entertain! You are graciously invited to come share in the exploration of this enticing story and escape into the magic of outdoor theatre.
